Personnel Board Chairman Resigns

Fairhope, Alabama

LORENZO HOWARD

The Times has learned that Personnel Board Chairman Lorenzo Howard has resigned. During Howard's term several controversial issues were addressed including high-profile termination hearings for several police officers, a review of conditions within the Police Department itself (click), and the establishment of the city's first pay structure for employees (click).

Howard declined to specify his reasons for resigning in a statement to the Times:

"I really do not have much to say except that I enjoyed working with my friends on the Personnel Board. Our city is indeed fortunate to have such a dedicated group of citizens who are willing to serve. Thanks to the Mayor and the Council for all their support.. Perhaps I will able to serve the city again in the future."

Diane Thomas was selected to be the new Chairman of the Personnel Board.
