Fairhope, Alabama
Update: The Times has learned the project has been delayed again due to more utility-location issues: valves will have to be installed on the sewer line under the creek in case of damage when drilling pilings for the bridge approaches.
US 98 MULTI-USE TRAIL
Contractors are preparing the foundations for the boardwalk and pedestrian bridge over Fly Creek, the final portion of a multi-use trail extending along U.S. 98 from Highway 104 to South Street that has been under construction for over a year.
The section over the creek had to be redesigned due to underground utility and installation concerns (crane interference with overhead powerlines). Pilings in the creek were eliminated to prevent debris pile-up issues too.
