New Plan For Fairhope Beach Pollution Testing

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS

Jim Hoerner the Chairman of the Environmental Committee says his Committee has been meeting to devise a better strategy for analyzing the fecal pollution problem at Fairhope's beaches.

He mentioned that Dr Feng of Auburn University had already made a $85,000 proposal to the council but added that the engineering company HM2Hill has proposed doing a sanitary study as well.

Because of the considerable cost of the contracts, Hoerner said his group is recommending to proceed in stages; with Dr Feng to first give a quote for analyzing 8 sites for testing -- to identify possible sources of contamination (human, cow, etc).
