Church's Transitional Home Worries Some Neighbors

Some Fruit and Nut neighborhood residents have expressed concerns to Planning Director Jonathan Smith over a  home for  families transitioning out of homelessness--now being developed by Trinity Presbyterian Church and Habitat for Humanity at 26 Orange St.  Smith said the home is in compliance with all city zoning regulations.

Trinity Pastor Matt McCollum said any family participating will be part of Family Promise Baldwin County (click) and will go through both a criminal background check and drug testing.

The church owns the property on both sides as well.

Councilman Rick Kingrea is a member of the church.
