According to Councilmember Debbie Quinn, the National League of Cities has asked Fairhope to nominate a "mid-career civil servant" to participate in its exchange program with German counterparts     Deutscher Staetetag and the American Council on Germany.

The purpose of the program is to "give American and German professionals an opportunity to broaden their professional experiences and to establish working relationships with their trans-Atlantic counterparts."

Chosen American participants are to travel for three weeks in Germany this September; and their German counterparts will visit the U.S. next year, staying in host's homes.

Funding will be provided by the Fellowship fund: there will be no cost to the city or selected employee.
