Mayor Kant to Seek Fourth Term

Fairhope, Alabama

FORMS CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE

Mayor Kant told a Times reporter recently he will be seeking re-elction this August -- and has already formed a campaign committee: Thomas Faust is Chairman, Philip Cusa is Treasurer, and Jerry Keehn is a committee member.

Campaign documents show Kant spent $5,000 to retain the services of the Spanish Fort  "political strategy and consulting firm" of Elliot, Haygood and Stacey LLC.

CONTRIBUTIONS  FROM FUNDRAISERS

Campaign records show Kant received donations of over $39,000 last year -- and spent over $27,000: largely to pay off prior campaign debts.

Significant contributions were made by:

1. One of the city's (private) attorneys, Caine O'rear, and his law firm's (Hand Arendall) political action committee, West Pac. $2,750 in total.

2. Engineering firm and frequent city contractor Volkert Inc; and its political action committee DVA/HC, $1,500 total. Volkert President and CMO Perry Hand gave an additional $500.

3. A.I. Corte Jr., owner of Plantation Point. shopping center, $500.

4. Spanish fort resident Barry Boothe, the organizer of the WWII Veteran's Honor Flght, gave $500.

5. Fairhope Funeral Home owner Gary Wolfe, gave $500. Wolfe objected when no-cost funeral escorts were discontinued by the Fairhope P.D. about  two years ago.

6. Local developer and Planning and Zoning Commission member George Roberbs gave $300.

7. Sonny Callahan and Associates, a political lobbying firm, gave $500.

8. Mobile realtor/developer Clifton Inge gave $1,000.

I've been forced to vote for him the last couple of times, because the alternative wasn't any better. But this time, I'll vote for the dog before I vote for him again.

3 terms are enough. We need someone to run who will be a uniter not a divider such as Tim.

The people that think Tim Kant has done a good job and would vote for him again are what is wrong with Fairhope.

I have lived in this town for 77 years. I don't need some young whippersnapper telling me I am what's wrong with Fairhope. We built this town into what it is today. You have moved here and are enjoying the fruits of our labor.

Vote however you please, but don't tell me how to vote!!

Nothing against him, but 3 terms is enough for anyone. New blood would be good...as long as there is a good alternative and not the usual liberal nutcases that crawl out from Arbor Day planning to run. We need someone who is fiscally responsible and wants to grow Fairhope, while retaining all that is unique about the city...esp the downtown area.
