New Business Coming to Old Food World

Fairhope, Alabama

CPSI OF MOBILE

The Fairhope Economic and Industrial Development Board approved tax abatements which should lead to Mobile-based CPSI Inc locating in the vacant Food World building on Greeno Rd. According to a company representative, CPSI provides computer and other administrative services (ie. electronic record-keeping) to hospitals and other medical providers. The new location will house the company's software implementation and support division.

The company plans to be in by Fall or early Winter -- and intends to initially transfer 70-150 employees from its Mobile locations; and up to 150 within 18 months. Average salary will be about $35,000, according to the spokesman.

The Board voted unanimously to grant the company's  request for 10 year property and sales tax abatements as incentives for locating here. The tax abatements apply to city, county and state taxes and it was estimated the city's share would be about $35,000 the first year.

Board Member Bob Gentle called the project "good for the city ... just the sort of thing we want here," and Board Chairman Charlie Bassett "its a good deal for the city."

Awesome...they will be paying employees almost as much as Food World did! But wait a minute here...didn't Mayor Kant say we were getting 150 new jobs in Fairhope that averaged $80,000 salaries? Knew that was wrong then. They're just transferring current employees like most figured. I guess Kant was trying to divert attention away from the crazy street striping controversey. *And it's "CPSI" by the way.

I'm happy for the CPSI employees that will no longer have to make the commute over to Mobile.

However, this is no big "get" for the city of Fairhope despite the hype by Mayor Kant.

Oh yes, this is so much better than the bowling alley that the city turned away...just what the city needs.

When did the city turn away a bowling alley tin pin? You need to get your facts straight. Where did u get your info....from the Ripper?

The city planning department turned down the original plans for the bowling alley. This forced them to redo their plans, but the original architect had since gone bankrupt which meant starting completely over. This is why they did the haunted house for a few years...to try to recoup some of the money lost and possibly have new plans drawn. It never worked and now we are stuck with computers instead over entertainment.

Trust me, I have my facts straight...it is you who need to learn what is going on in your backyard.

A bowling alley would have created more truly "new" jobs for Fairhope...and paid about as much as CPSI. $35,000 average salary?!?!?! Good luck paying student loans off with those big bucks.

Who ever told you that the planning dept. turned down plans is on crack. No plans were ever submitted to the city. Let me guess Dr. Warner, the Ripper of the Greeen Jean Family told this...you guys are so funnnnnnny...provide proof Obama follower...
