DEFICIENCIES FOUND
Mayor Kant told the Times that the Community Park Playground was recently inspected by a Certified Playground Inspector -- and both major and minor faults were found.
Kant said some of the handrails were found to be deficient and their balusters too wide (children's heads could fit through) -- among other things.
There were also more serious building code issues and it was found not to be handicapped-accessible. Kant said he had directed Public Work's Construction Manager Ken Eslava to correct what he could, but the new city council (assumes office Nov. 1st) would have to decide what to do about the major issues.
Replacing the whole structure is still a possibility, according to Kant.
