Fairhope Chief of Police Joe Petties was wearing the new body cameras recently purchased by the department.
Petties had just returned from New York City where he participated in the funerals for two police officers killed in the line of duty about two weeks ago.
Another officer told the Times' crime reporter the cameras were "just one more thing to have to remember to turn on ... or get writtten up for."
