PREPARING PROJECT REQUESTS
The city's re-formed Pedestrian/Bike committee met recently at the Nix Center -- and began discussing what recommendations to make to the city council for next year's budget.
Chairman Chris Riley said he had obtained the long backlog list of sidewalk requests from the Public Works Department: Several months ago, the mayor had asked the committee to prioritize them so that money for at least a mile could be included in the budget every year.
The committee is also going over a "wish list" of other projects as well -- like pedestrian crossing improvements and more bike racks around town.
A Fairhope Single Tax Corporation representative attending the meeting offered to ask the FSTC for funding for the racks if necessary.
