Stedman's Landing Repairs Completed

Fairhope, Alabama

NEW BOARDWALK TO BE CONSTRUCTED
Stedman's Landing

Repairs mostly-funded by the federal government's NRCS to damage caused by heavy rains and flooding in the Spring of 2014 to Sibley Creek and the county park at Stedman's Landing in Montrose have been completed; construction of a new boardwalk (fully  funded by the county) to provide public access to the bay will begin shortly, according to commissioner Chris Elliot.

A wharf was established at the end of Sibley St. in 1852 but was washed away by the 1906 hurricane.

There has been some discussion about the city of Fairhope  assuming the property once everything is completed; but no formal proposal has been made: The city council would have to annex the property.
