Electric System Nearing Capacity During Summer Heat

AIR CONDITIONING BIGGEST LOAD

Operations Director Richard Peterson told the city council emergency generators have been running at some city facilities at times during the heat of the day to reduce the load on electric substations that are nearing capacity.

The purchase of land on Young Street for expansion is now under consideration by the city council (or using city parkland there).

Isn't this something that should have been considered prior to bringing on all of these large subdivisions and apartments? Our City Council and Planning Commissions have been pretty useless other than for entertainment purposes. Let's hope that the Mayor's plan for City Manager pan out so that we can do better than these guys.

To those who have been convinced by Robert Brown and others on the City Council that our government is just perfect now, this should be a wake-up call. Mayor Kant paid no heed to the needs of the city and nor have the past few City Councils. They have concentrated completely on enriching themselves and their friends and enjoying their 'power'. Mayor Wilson is the best elected official that we have had because she, in supporting this City Manager/Council Management, is showing how much she loves Fairhope. No City Manager would ever have let a City wind up in such a deplorable condition regarding water and sewer and electrical services........especially when those same utilities are owned and operated by the city itself. Robert Brown must be a moron to believe that he has done anything good for Fairhope, so who could believe anything that comes out of his mouth!
