ESTIMATED $1.2 MILLION TOTAL COST
The city council approved a contract with Sawgrass Consulting not to exceed $140K for professional engineering services to design/oversee construction of a new rubberized athletic track around one of the existing soccer fields, and more parking spaces at the city’s Founders Park.
The track will be used by students at nearby Baldwin County public schools (Fairhope High, Middle school.)
An additional $1.1 million (estimated) for actual construction cost is to be shared by thirds with the Single Tax Corporation, Baldwin County Board of Education, and City of Fairhope, according to mayor Sullivan.
No timeline was mentioned.
The city’s Majors Stadium has a similar athletic track.
