Employees Get Rec. Center Discount

After hearing a request from the Recreation Board via Department Head Eddie Boyette, the City Council extended the 25% employee discount now given at the City Pool to the new Volanta Recreation Center a well. The Council is still awaiting a recommendation from the Police Chief and City Administrator concerning the proposed free membership for policemen/firemen. Also, employees will now be allowed to pay their dues on a time payment plan.

Rec center: expected memberships of 1000 reduced to 900; revised revenue downward from $360K to $260K...you mean 100 memberships will equal $100K? City employees/families (package deal)at $30 a month for $360 a year? Am I missing something? And is it that difficult for employees to come up with $30 a month so they have to be on a payment plan? Is this membership mandatory? Will it be itemized on tax returns with all the other benefits? Is this a ploy to give them yet another raise to think the $30 bucks will truly dig deep into their pocketbook?
