Racist Material Being Distributed Around Town

Fairhope, Alabama

From flyer
A South Ingleside Street resident approached the city council about  offensive material from the North Carolina-based 'Loyal White Knights of KKK' being left in city neighborhoods about a month ago.

"We don't need this in our neighborhood," she said.

The flyers were in zip lock bags partially filled with sand and being thrown out at mail boxes.

Mayor Kant said it happened "all over the south part of town" and in the Fairfield neighborhood.

Chief Petties said his department already knew about it and the FBI was working on it; similar material had been found in Dothan and other places in Alabama.

According to earlier media reports (click), the ones found in Dothan last May are mostly "anti-transgender" and probably no laws were violated by distributing them: it is a protected free speech.

They seem to be mostly a recruiting and fundraising effort, according to the reports; but anti-littering laws may apply though in some cases.

From Wikipedia:

"The Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan is a Christian white supremacist and antisemitic organization styled after the original Ku Klux Klan (KKK). Formed around 2012, it aims to "restore America to a White, Christian nation founded on God's word".

The organization presents itself as part of a "new KKK". Rejecting the label of a hate group, it describes itself as a "non-violent pro-white civil rights movement."[2] Unlike the protestant second Ku Klux Klan (1915–1944), the group unites white-supremacist Christians of different denominations.

It is however somewhat stricter than other contemporary KKK chapters in accepting only "native-born white American Citizen[s …] of Christian Faith" who "believe in White Supremacy and 100% Americanism."[3]"

Back in its heyday in the 1920s and 30s, the old Klan held marches down Section Street, according to town historians.

The poster below was published in a Dothan newspaper report; the ones left here were not made public, but are said to be similar.    (Most-offensive parts were redacted)

Not acceptable! We are one Nation Under God. I have been proud to live in Fairhope for the past 40+ years. Hopefully we are not as racist as many of the other surrounding (Mobile) towns. I have many friends of every color/race, etc.

Nah, it's only Trump's campaign stuff.

Is this the right's answer to the New Black Panthers on the left?
I doubt it.

Did they include a copy of the Ripp Report?

After living as a resident of Baldwin Co for over 50 yrs I sure you there are more Klan members in this county,as well as many in the Fairhope community. There are even several currently in elected positions across the state, and have been for decades. So if the new transplants don't believe that, they might want to read a few history books.

They are getting what they want and that is attention. Ignore them They are ignorant with nothing better to do. Seriously there are so many more important things to do than to give this any publicity

I believe you!! Kids being bullied for being of a different faith at school and in sports but it doesn't help when bibles are being handed out in public schools. You're inviting everything in if you do for one religion....get ready for the Koran, Wicca, aetheist literature....
