A South Ingleside Street resident approached the city council about offensive material from the North Carolina-based 'Loyal White Knights of KKK' being left in city neighborhoods about a month ago.
"We don't need this in our neighborhood," she said.
The flyers were in zip lock bags partially filled with sand and being thrown out at mail boxes.
Mayor Kant said it happened "all over the south part of town" and in the Fairfield neighborhood.
Chief Petties said his department already knew about it and the FBI was working on it; similar material had been found in Dothan and other places in Alabama.
According to earlier media reports (click), the ones found in Dothan last May are mostly "anti-transgender" and probably no laws were violated by distributing them: it is a protected free speech.
They seem to be mostly a recruiting and fundraising effort, according to the reports; but anti-littering laws may apply though in some cases.

Seriously, take these guys with a grain of salt. They're no real threat to us.
