Historic Site Becoming Pizza Pub

The former site of the old Tumble Inn building (most recently Old Bay Steamer) is to become a Pizza Restaurant--according to signs posted there. The fate of the previously proposed project designed by a local architect (now deceased)--a New Orleans style courtyard/shops--is unclear. In 2003, on its website--the Alabama Historical Commission warned: "Today, two of the most significant commercial buildings on Fairhope Ave., the 1914 Tumble Inn and 1924 Magnet Theater, are under imminent threat of demolition, as developers eye the sites . . ."

huh, thats funny. there was an article last summer in the paper praising it to high heaven(right before the city election)
