Online News: Redefining Journalism

This Thursday, Jan 15 at 6PM, the Orange Beach Library will host Birmingham attorney Mr. Banks Sewell, a specialist in media and First Amendment law as he discusses blogging, online news and free speech rights in the age of citizen journalism--according to the library's website. Admittance is free.

"old style" journalism's become all about selling papers and making money, not reporting news.

Mr. Sewell gave a presentation on the Constitutional First Amendment rights of citizens/publications (free speech) and freedom of press. He also mentioned new measures being adopted by states to protect the (online?) press from governmental or private party abuse ("Shield Laws").
