Recreation Center Partnership Nixed

Citing too many strings attached-- by a unanimous vote-- the City's Recreation Board voted last week not to partner with Thomas Hospital in operating the City's new $2.4 million Volanta Park Recreation Center. According to Council liason Mike Ford the City will "go it alone." A Director (to be hired ASAP @$35K salary) and 9 part time assistants (hired later) will be needed-- as well as over $200,000 for furnishings and equipment. Opening is now scheduled for about Jun. 1st.

I miss the good old days when we could just steal other cities' electric customers to pay our bills! :)
