Mayor Vetoes Sales Tax

The Fairhope Times has learned Fairhope Mayor Tim Kant has vetoed the 2% sales tax passed last Monday by the City Council on a 3-2 vote. "The City must cut expenses more aggressively", according to the Mayor's veto statement.

The Mayors right. He needs to be raising up utility bills instead of any sales tax. Its the way things have always been run around here and things aren't so bad. A sales tax might chase the tourists away.

yea, we can start cutting expenses by closing the new Volanta Rec. Center and the ball fields way down in Barnwell. And why do we need to be spending $400,000 every year on a gigantic airport anyway? the superfluous flowers need to go too.

notice how he's conveniently out of town! what a wimp! why didn't he veto last months 20% water/sewer hike on us!
