Since much of Greeno Road's storm water runoff in the area ends up there, the City's Environmental Advisory Board has recommended asking ALDOT's (Alabama Department of Transportation) help in making much needed improvements to the Morphy (Winn Dixie) drainage basin -- which is currently operating 74% over it's designed drainage capacity. These improvements may include enlargement, dredging, installing aerators and oil/water separators.
The current owner of the basin, Victory Real Estate, has offered to turn over the basin (and donate $5K for engineering studies) on condition the City then make all necessary improvements.
Board Chairman Jim Horner added, "I'm cautiously optimistic we'll get help from the state."
