Citing recent downtown area older building fires, Fire Department personnel have told the Financial Strategic Planning Committee the City needs more frequent fire inspections. "Inadequate fire house computer software" and "a dire need for administrative assistance" were also given as high priorities.
Elsewhere in the City, the committee cited as problematic: 1) inadequate police training(firearms); 2) no replacement schedule for vehicles/lawnmowers/ misc. equipment (all Depts); 3) no civil engineer (Planning Dept.); 4) the City landfill is nearly full (soon requiring trash to be hauled to the county's--at increased cost)
