Senior Center Roof Problems

City employees at the Nix Center have reported to the Financial Strategic Planning Committee that their roof leaks and "they can't get it fixed." They have been removing ceiling tiles and placing buckets to catch water during rainstorms, to prevent even more extensive damage. Staff also reports their fire alarm system is "out of code" and needs to be replaced (cost $18,000). The Strategic Planning Committee was formed earlier this year by the City Council to find the major problems/priorities of each City Dept.; and to facilitate better long range financial planning by City Government.
