Calling the City's current longstanding policy of having only the five elected Councilmembers serve on the Finance Committee "ludicrous"-- at a recent work-session current Committee Chairman Lonnie Mixon proposed reducing the membership to only two Councilmembers-- with the balance to be comprised of appointed citizen volunteers "experienced in accounting and finances."
Citing the plethora of such talent in the community (retirees from government/major Corps., etc.)-- Council President Quinn and Mayor Kant both endorsed the idea and asked the full Council to submit nominations.
