At recent Council meetings, the Council President has warned Fairhope area commuters to expect traffic congestion in the vicinity of HWY 181 and 90 (Spanish Fort/Daphne)-- as work begins to widen the road (181) and construct the new I10/CR13 interchange. Highway 98 is an alternate route. The projects are being partially funded by the Federal Economic Stimulus program.
