Dogwood Subdivision Rezoning Returned to Planning and Zoning

At the request of the developer's representative (Christopher Baker), by a 4-1 vote, the City Council voted to send the re-zoning request (R-2 to PUD) of the Dogwood Subdivision (corner Valley and Middle St.) back to the Planning and Zoning Commission for further review. Baker said issues like building height and setbacks needed further study. The Planning Commission had already unanimously recommended denial of the request at its March meeting-- as did the City's Planning Director Johnathan Smith. Council President Quinn voted against, saying: "We should deny it. . . (and) quit dragging it out. (Our) Planning Dept. doesn't design subdivisions."
