A plan to build a new fire station on the south side of Parker Rd. (at High Ridge Rd.) --just behind the new Publix Grocery--will be reviewed at the August 3rd Planning and Zoning Commission meeting (11.52.11 review). According to usually reliable sources, the property is to be donated by its owner (identified as Angelo Corte on county land records), grants and contributions will hopefully finance the building, and the City will be asked to buy the new equipment/ fire trucks.
Also, unconfirmed reports claim the City's ISO (Insurance Service Office) Fire Dept. rating was lowered (or did not improve as expected) fairly recently because the last station built was at the airport (Les bung Station, 1999), not north of town where it was most needed.
No ISO rating is presently listed on the City's Fire Dept. Website.
[Publisher's note: At one time the City's ISO was shown there as 4]
