Fulfilling a promise made a year ago to serve only one (consecutive) term, Council President Quinn passed the gavel to Lonnie Mixon and nominated him to be her successor.
Quinn: "Every year . . . Council President is voted on again . . . been a great year . . . we accomplished a lot . . . done a lot . . . put the Council legally (kinda) where it needs to be . . . lots more to do though. Feel I need to move on . . . let someone else take the reins for a while . . . gain experience. I'll be stepping down . . . so, I'd like to pass the gavel to Lonnie . . . and make a motion he be . . . next Council President."
Councilman Kingrea seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
