$1.1 Million Added to Proposed 2011 Budget for Road Paving

At its final meeting, the Budget Committee added $1,100,000 to next years budget for road paving: one million of which will have to be borrowed.
The list of proposed streets to be paved is not being released to the public at this time.
Committee Chairman Grubin is now to take the committee's finished budget to the Mayor for his input/comments, then to the FAC Committee for its, then to the Council who has the ultimate budgetary authority.
(The street flower budget is to be reduced by $50K as well--from $250K to $200K)

Public Works has always been used here as a political tool, to reward friends and punish critics.

if they are going to save one million on the garbage, just use that for road improvements. use the existing employees that would otherwise be used on the garbage trucks
