2 New Traffic Signals Coming to Fairhope Ave?

The Police Dept. has recommended new traffic signals be installed at Ingleside and Fairwood Sts.--where they intersect Fairhope Ave.-- because of the increased traffic expected there when the new elementary schools open Aug. 16th (corner Section St./Bayou St.).
Chief Press said a recent study revealed over 99% of drivers are currently exceeding the posted speed limits on Fairhope Ave.
A 2006 study of drainage and traffic concluded the Ingleside intersection was "on a winding curve making it difficult for drivers to see oncoming traffic" and suggested shifting the intersection farther east or installing a roundabout there. There was no mention of the Fairwood intersection in the 2006 study.
The Times learned recently that the Traffic Committee (aka Street Committee) currently has only one member (Chairman Kingrea) --and doesn't publish meeting schedules (if they're held at all). The operations of the Street Committee became an issue in the last election when candidate Corte criticized then Street Committee Chairman Stankoskis' handling of intersections north of town (triangle). Stankoski pointed out then that the meetings were scheduled and open to the public for comment.
