The City Council recently discussed a proposed new policy (resolution) concerning how much the city charges for the use of city facilities (like the civic center) by non-profit organizations (ie. charities). There have been past complaints that some have been favored over others.
Councilmember Stankoski said the new policy was needed to "develop a more consistent policy" and "ensure taxpayers are protected."
Councilmember Quinn objected to the organizations having to be Fairhope based: "County wide organizations do good work here too . . . don't throw baby out with bath water . . . as long as proceeds are spent in Fairhope . . . have no problem with that."
The resolution was laid over to allow Quinn and Stankoski time to work out their differences.
