School Feasibility Study Completed: Presentation Set for Sept. 13th

According to School Feasibility Study Committee Chairperson Debbie Quinn, the long awaited study by Dr. Ira Harvey is completed--and will be presented to the Committee on Monday Sept. 13th at 5PM.
Quinn: "The study will be presented by Dr. Harvey to the committee, who in turn will vote on a recommendation to the City Council for them to take under advisement. The presentation will consist of written documentation of the study and a power point presentation.
At 6PM during the City Council meeting (Sept. 13th)--Dr. Harvey will give a 10 minute presentation to the general public.
The study will also be available for public inspection at City Hall (clerk's office) and the Public Library beginning Sept. 14th."
Harvey's study was commissioned by the council last Fall to investigate the (financial) feasibility of the City forming its own school system--in response to ongoing budget cutting by the Baldwin County School System.

It will never happen- watched while the whole thing was looked at in Gulf Shores/ Orange Beach several years ago. Lots of verbal support in the paper but the actual vote went down in flames so Angie Swiger decided that she would run for BC School Board since the the majority of island residents weren't interested in having their own system. Will be the same thing here, Fairhope can't afford it alone. Only way it would work financially wuold be an Eastern Shore system, IF you could get Fairhope, Daphne and Spanish Fort to agree on anything!

if out of town parents want their kids to join in all they have to do is annex into the city.

may be a good way to finally get everybody around here to pitch in to pay their fair share of city expenses.

if the Baldwin Schools start cutting back again this could become feasible.
