Fairhope City Council Approves 2011 Budget

Last Monday, the city council unanimously approved the budget presented to it  by Budget Committee Chairman Stan Grubin, but Councilman Mike Ford reiterated regrets he had voiced earlier that the Mayor had not been appointed to the committee when it was formed back in June.

Ford: "The Mayor customarily sets the budget."

Mayor Kant had earlier voiced similar sentiments, saying he too opposed the make-up of the Committee at the time it was formed. Kant also said  he thought the proposed budget had cut spending too much (on flowers, pay raises, etc.); and that too much money was being put into emergency reserve funds.

I think its a good idea to keep as many tax and spend politicians hands out of our pockets as possible, locally or nationally.. Just stick to the basics, police, fire, roads.

Too bad they can't do the same in Washington, appoint a citizen committee rather than let Obama, Pelosi & company do the country's budgets!

TP2, You look so ignorant on National politics. I'm pretty sure you don't understand the process and how the Senate and House work.

Which figures, I'd expect nothing better from a teabagger.

Let me guess, you drive either a big truck or an extended cab Surburban. You also have no idea what you're even protesting because you haven't taken the few minutes it would require for you to sit quietly and ponder things than to run your fat mouth about things you don't undersand.

I say this as a Fiscal Conservative. You sound like an ignorant hillbilly.
