Fairhope Sewage Rates Rising Another 20% This Month

Fairhope residents will see a 20% increase in their sewer bills beginning this month (Oct.). This is the last in a series of 3 increases approved in early 2009.

Even with the increase, the plant still won't break even financially, according to some previous reports.

The sewage plant has been in need of repairs/upgrades for some time (called a band aid by some city officials) or more costly expansion/replacement.

I wonder what happened to all the increased tap fees The City charged from 2003-now??? They almost doubled at the time and builders/ homeowners were told they were increased so that the additional fees could go into an account for future sewer plant repairs/upgrades/expansion...

They want to even tax taking a crap more. Typical government. Trying to now tax rain...and they'd tax oxygen if they could find a way (oh wait, they kinda have...the carbon tax). ENOUGH! Make whatever cuts need to be made, but quit raising costs!
