Extensive Personnel Changes/ "Workforce Reduction" to be Considered by New County Commissioners

Bob James
Frank Burt
After being sworn in this Tuesday (8:30 AM), the new Baldwin County Commissioners are expected to elect Frank Burt as their next Chairman-- and extensive workforce reductions considered (except for public safety related departments).

Burt has served as Chairman 3 times before. Bob James will be sworn in as the new District 2 Commissioner (Fairhope/Daphne).

Six positions in the Legal and Planning Depts. may be eliminated completely--and the contracts of eight Senior Personnel may not be renewed (Administrator Michael Thomson, Engineer Ralph Market, Clerk/Treasurer Kimberly Creech, Personnel Director Susan Lovett, EMA Director Leigh AnnRyals, Juvenile Detention Director, William Ford, Building Official Mike Howell, and Sanitation Director James Ransom).

(Note: Such contract non-renewals require a 3/4 vote of the Commission)

If approved by the majority of commissioners,  Department heads will be instructed to come back with further employee cost reductions--at the next commission meeting (Nov. 16th).

Also to be considered:

 2. A new organizational chart.

 3. A proposal to post all employee salaries and benefits on the
     county's website.

Frank Burt is a blight on Baldwin County. It is incredibly disappointing that Mr. James and Mr. Dorsey appear to have fallen right in step with him, it's going to be a long 4 years with Burt leading the charge.
