City Council Says Keep Kindergarten Downtown

BOARD OF EDUCATION TO DECIDE

Councilman Stankoski made a motion to send a letter to the Baldwin County Board of Education urging it keep the kindergarten at its building on Church St.

The Board of Education will decide the matter at its regular meeting this Thursday in Bay Minette (6:30PM).

I'm sorry, but like all beloved things, sometimes you have to let go. All of my children went to the school in their time as well as my husband, but hey, the place has seen it's best day and it is TIME TO LET GO. The children will be alot better off at the new elementary school. If this elite group wants to keep it going, make it a private school and let THEM pay for it. Chances are, most parents just want a good education for their children no matter where it is obtained.

My oldest went to the K-1 last year. It's a neat little place, but it's old and is probably a money pit. Besides, they can always use it to get new taxes passed by promising to re-open it if you suckers vote more taxes on yourselves. What I don't like is that "Fairhope" won't benefit from any savings closing it creates. The new F'hope Elementary School should be k-3rd grade (but NOT higher grades). 4th-6th grades at one school, 7th-9th grades at one school, and then 10th-12th grades at the high school.

I would like to see the k-1 center stay where it is but the powers to be in the surrounding area like the Cortes and Radcliff want it gone so they can build more condos.

$100 says the BCBE writes back and says "if you want to keep it, you pay for it"

And the premise that doing the right thing means forming a City school is for ALL the people to decide, not a vocal minority. Lets put it to a vote and see how what the numbers are!
