HOMEOWNER WIND INSURANCE
District 2 County Commissioner Bob James said he hoped the new state legislature could make some progress, given new ethics laws and restrictions on insurance company lobbyists.
VETERAN'S CEMETERY
James said progress was slow on the proposed veteran's cemetery because of a tangle of legal issues over purchasing the land.
OTHER ISSUES
He said the county would look for a replacement for the defunct Team Green recycling proposal that may involve converting refuse into energy, but may not be the single-stream method planed by TG; county commission meetings will be streamed on the internet begining this summer: it may be possible to hold some future commission meetings in Fairhope; in his opinion the $4.1 million satellite courthouse expansion was not necessary; he was fairly satisfied with the oil spill clean-up ("some things could have been done better"); saw no wrongdoing in the oil boom contract controversy involving Senator Pitman; criticized the County's 2025 Plan; and said the proposed BRATS fare increase was still being considered (due to higher gasoline prices).
County Administrator David Brewer participated electronically.
