In an e-mail response to the Times, Council President Mixon made comments late today about tomorrow's special council meeting:
Thanks for your interest. The Mayor will miss the next scheduled council meeting on the 14th and since the council delegates to the mayor the authority to dismiss employees subject to the Personnel Rules, Policies and Procedures of the city; he needs to be there to provide relevant information. The next regular council meeting after that is March 28th. The Grievance Procedure states that the Hearing should be held as soon as practical. If we waited until the 28th, a month would have passed since her dismissal. It is generally felt that the sooner personnel problems are resolved, the better for all concerned, especially the employees of the city.
Rhonda requested that the date be changed so that all council members could be present. We can not guarantee that all council members will be present at any council meeting.
