Barnwell Club Gets Liquor License Over Chief's Objections

CALLED THE DOUBLE DEUCE 2 LOUNGE

The city council voted unanimously (one abstention)  to issue a  liquor license to Jefffrey Dubois, for his bar -- located on HWY 98 in Barnwell.

The establishment, formerly known as The Barn and Club 98,  had been entangled in civil legal proceedings since 2007, according to Dubois' lawyer, Robert Stankoski.

POLICE CHIEF AGAINST

Chief Bill Press had recommended denying the request, based upon the number of "past calls for service and historical background"-- including advice from other officers. This was the first such application he had opposed, Press said.

(Publisher's note: Attorney Stankoski is the son of Fairhope Councilman Dan Stankoski)
