Officer Becky Maclean introduced her partner Segan, a 2 year old German Shepherd imported from the Czech Republic, to the Police Committee recently.
Mclean said she cares for the dog herself at home and called it "one of the best investments a city can make, as a tool for police work."
Mclean: " ... dogs can be sent into buildings ... to find suspects ... detect the odor of narcotics ... and find lost persons."
She said Officer Segan was purchased with drug seizure money (at no cost to the city) and has been trained to detect the presence of cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana.
