In response to an ethics investigation underway at the time, Mayor Kant said the city acted properly when it awarded a contract to State Senator Trip Pitman's company (click).
The State Ethics Commission eventually agreed; but a Federal investigation is now underway (Kant and other city staff received subpoenas last week).
