 8:30AM  THURSDAY IN COUNCIL CHAMBERS

Dr. Winslow Sargeant, Chief Counsel for the Small Business Administration's Office of Advocacy will be speaking to local merchants in the City Council Chambers this Thursday Oct 27th beginning at 8:30AM.

The Office of Advocacy is an independent voice for small business within the  federal government with a mission to encourage policies that support small business start-up growth and development.

Dr. Sargeant will address how the SBA can help local business and the applicable federal regulations. All are invited to come and learn how to start, maintain and grow local businesses.

Fairhope Councilmember Quinn said in her capacity as Vice Chair of the National League of Cities Advisory Council, she has had conversations with the SBA and has been working to bring the organization here to see if they can help the growth of small business in Fairhope.

Quinn: "Creating and retaining local jobs in this economic climate is something the city can work on by reaching out and enlisting the support from those who know it best, the Small Business Administration."

Quinn went on to say small businesses are traditionally the ones who get a stalled economy off the ground, but it seems not to be working well this time -- in this unusual economy.
