Fairhope Mounted Patrol Meets City Council

Fairhope Mounted Patrol

Beverly Corte, who originated the mounted patrol idea in 2009, introduced its 30 members to the city council.

Corte: "We had good horses, trucks, trailers ... all we needed was a mission statement. Chief Press provided that."

Corte said it's establishment took a leap of faith born of 2 passions: a love for horses and for community service.

She said the patrol is entirely funded by generous private donations and fundraisers; and expected it to be participating in upcoming parades.

According to their Facebook page:

"The mission and purpose of the Fairhope Mounted Patrol (FMP) is to augment the officers of the city by providing crowd control and traffic control at civic events, also to provide emergency search and rescue services during times of tragedy."
