Fairhope Police Disciplinary Hearings Delayed Again

SIX OFFICERS FACING TERMINATION

At Tuesday's Police Committee meeting, Chief Press said investigative hearings that were to be conducted by Mobile's Captain Barber had been delayed again -- for at least at least 30 days by the mayor.

Asst. Chief Sanders said there were 2 stages to the due process: investigative and appeal hearings.

Sanders: "We are just trying to get it through the due process ... ."

Press: "We do not believe there is any just cause for delaying the process."

The six officers have been facing termination since last July.

Mayor Kant has not responded to an e mail requesting reasons for the delay.

as I understand it, all of these officers that are on suspension are still drawing full salaries and this means the dept cannot hire any new officers until the dispute is settled. Just what is the total cost per month of these six salaries that the city if still paying?

The six officers are currently on administrative leave, with pay.
