OFFICER JAMES NELSON
Officer James Nelson was selected police officer of the month for December 2011 by his supervisors for successfully handling a shots fired call on New Year's Eve. According to Chief Press, Nelson located the two subjects and held them at gunpoint until backup arrived; then discovered a handgun with serial numbers removed in the waistband of one -- and drugs carried by the other.
Nelson: "It's nice to be noticed. Its what we do out there ... ."
This is Neslon's second OOM award.
