Many of the trees that were cut last month by the owner of the Ruby Tuesday restaurant property (Corte) have now been replaced. The red/silver maples, hawthorne and other varieties were replaced with varieties of oaks and at least one magnolia (in the city's right of way).
City horticulturist Fidler said recently a municipal court hearing scheduled for earlier this month on the matter had been postponed.
Another source at city hall said the property owner cut the trees because he "didn't like the way the old trees looked."
Several areas of badly-buckled sidewalks there were repaired as well.
Tree roots usually cause such damage.
