City's Workforce Study Due By June

Fairhope, Alabama

Personnel Board member Diane Thomas told the council the much-anticipated study of the city's workforce by human resources consulting firm Evergreen Solutions is nearing completion.

The six objectives of the study are to:

1) refine job classifications
2) compare wages and salaries with other comparable towns
3) determine the worth of each job
4) establish pay ranges for each job
5) revise all job classifications
6) develop a compensation philosophy

Thomas: "By having very accurate job descriptions, job ratings, and pay ranges for each job,  we will have come a long way into developing a sound basis for compensation decisions ... ."

Thomas said the Board intended to meet with the company's representative Brian Wolfe within the next  2 weeks and a final report should be ready sometime in May.

Councilman Kingrea said he hoped the report would be ready soon so that the Financial Advisory Committee could incorporate it's findings into next year's budgeting process.

Committee member Lorenzo Howard: "We're real close to wrapping this up."
