Mayor Says City Finances in "Great Shape"

Fairhope, Alabama

DURING STATE OF THE CITY ADDRESS

Mayor Kant credited the city council and staff for the city's overall good financial condition ($7 million surplus) and improving credit ratings.

Kant: "Our credit rating increased to AA- last year ... because of the hard work of the council and staff ... working hard to keep expenses down." Kant singled our retiring Financial Reporter Rose Fogarty for praise.

Sure they are and going to be even better when that "new" company comes to town with 150-200 "new" jobs. Word is out that it is a company from Mobile, just expanding and bringing their own employees with them.

Thanks to the Council, FAC Committee and Administrative Staff working together to build back a surplus. Look at the record four years ago.....spending....spending...by the Mayor and the Good Ole Boys...while infrastructure feel apart. Thanks for above named groups for conservative government!!!

Fact is, this city council has done a good job handling the money, unlike prior ones.

Then start fixing the mess you've made of the streets..."It's only paint"...

Company from Mobile? Is it CPSI? Don't tell me this won't be "new" jobs and it'll just mean a bunch of currently employed people have a shorter commute to work. That would be disappointing to say the least...but at least the old FW building won't be vacant.

I heard it was Microsoft and Bill Gates is looking to buy a place in Point Clear. Also, they are developing the software for AirBus.
