The Fairhope Economic and Industrial Development Board approved tax abatements which should lead to Mobile-based CPSI Inc locating in the vacant Food World building on Greeno Rd. According to a company representative, CPSI provides computer and other administrative services (ie. electronic record-keeping) to hospitals and other medical providers. The new location will house the company's software implementation and support division.
The company plans to be in by Fall or early Winter -- and intends to initially transfer 70-150 employees from its Mobile locations; and up to 150 within 18 months. Average salary will be about $35,000, according to the spokesman.
The Board voted unanimously to grant the company's request for 10 year property and sales tax abatements as incentives for locating here. The tax abatements apply to city, county and state taxes and it was estimated the city's share would be about $35,000 the first year.
Board Member Bob Gentle called the project "good for the city ... just the sort of thing we want here," and Board Chairman Charlie Bassett "its a good deal for the city."

However, this is no big "get" for the city of Fairhope despite the hype by Mayor Kant.
