MEMORIAL DAY 2012
Council member Debbie Quinn's youngest son Bryan is currently serving in the U.S. Army in Zormat, eastern Afghanistan (Paktiya Province). She said she hopes Fairhopers will remember all those serving in uniform in harm's way on this day.
Quinn: "I hope that everyone has a safe Memorial Day with family and friends. Please, remember all the military men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedoms and please don't forget all the troops still serving. We need to keep them in our thoughts and prayers every day. "
Bryan Quinn is a 1st Lt. with Task Force Spartan (3rd Infantry Brigade, 10th Mountain Division), Command Post Zormat. Lt. Quinn is a graduate of Fairhope High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. His wife, Kathleen McNamara Quinn is a Daphne High School and University of Alabama graduate. The couple's home base is Camp Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.
Lt. Quinn's current deployment in Afghanistan is scheduled to end in October.
(Mrs. Quinn's other son, Neil, is a Marine Corps. 1st Lt. -- currently undergoing helicopter pilot training in Pensacola. He and wife Rebecca have a six month old daughter, Elaine. They should be leaving for their next assignment in August.)
